“The Casino of Learning” was a new playground concept we created for the Apple Distinguished Educator Global Institute in Austin. Ready for its grand opening, a core team of ADEs were playground volunteers who transformed from teachers and leaders to casino dealers at our 5 play stations.

For an hour and half over 300 educators from around the globe participated in play at our Las Vegas themed learning event and we were dealing out the challenges!

Each stations was 5 Hotels (Bellagio, Aria, Golden Nugget, Caesars Palace and The Stratosphere). Everyone was invited to visit on the strip and make their way up the Leadership BillBoard to keep the play alive.

Each participant accepted the challenge to become the Learning Professional by completing 4 challenges. The first step was being an Apprentice. That’s the most important step. It is the willingness to take a risk and try something new. From there they leveled up to the Learner, a deeper learning experience. Then they put new learning into practice to become the Practitioner. Ultimately becoming are the Master of new learning, having taken your skills to new heights.

At our “The Wheel of Learning” station there were 7 challenges, each was by chance at the spin of the wheel. From  Sin City – Polaroid Selfie “I swear I am up to no good” ; The Strip – Comic Book Story Challenge ; Viva Las Vegas – Make an Elvis Puppet Challenge; Leaving Las Vegas – Read a Song As A Spoken Word Poetry Challenge; Going To The Chapel –  Be the DJ at the Wedding Chapel Challenge; Hotel Frenzy– Build A New Hotel Challenge; to  the City of Lights – Fountain Show Challenge the fun and laughter took over as creativity emerged in play.
